Top 10 Things at RT15
For those of you who’ve been following me for a while, you know that I attend a conference every year called the Romantic Times Convention. If you are a fan of romance or YA books, this conference is an amazing one for fans. A lot of author conventions focus on the craft of writing and this one does too but it also has what’s called a reader track. This means that during the entire week readers have cool parties, workshops, and activities designed just for them. Next year RT is happening in Las Vegas …
Mayday Monday (7)
Far to the north of the magical Old Kingdom, the Greenwash Bridge Company has been building a bridge for almost a hundred years. It is not an easy task, for many dangers threaten the bridge builders, from nomad raiders to Free Magic sorcerers. Despite the danger, Morghan wants nothing more than to join the Bridge Company as a cadet. But the company takes only the best, the most skillful Charter mages, and trains them hard, for the night might come when only a single young cadet must hold the bridge against many foes. Will Morghan be that cadet? Also included …
Barry Manilow
Now, now. I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t Barry Manilow like…dead? Actually he’s not. But dang is he old. I saw he was coming to town and bought tickets and since my hubby refused to accompany me, I took my friend Cindy instead. First you have to know that Barry Manilow is who my mom listened to. This means that when I became interested in music, which was back in the 70’s, there was no way for me to access it other than via my mom’s old records. She had Elvis, Barry Manilow, and the Carpenters. I still listen …
Double Feature Movie Review: Avengers: Age of Ultron & Tomorrowland
Avengers: Age of Ultron Colleen’s Movie Review I always give spoilers so consider yourself warned. =) Romance: So the guys all mention their significant others but none of the girls make an appearance in the film. There is a new teased romance however between Black Widow and Bruce Banner/The Hulk. She seems to like both versions of him pretty equally. We never really see this romance develop which is disappointing. It’s a bit like wham…there it is. You all make sense of it on your own. And even though there are obvious feels between them, nothing swoony actually happens other …
Mayday Monday (6)
Kenna is tired of being “normal”. The only thing special about her is that she isn’t special at all. Which is frustrating in a world of absolutes. Villains, like the one who killed her father, are bad. Heroes, like her mother and best friend, are good. And Kenna, unlike everyone else around her, is completely ordinary— which she hates. She’s secretly working on an experiment that will land her a place among the Heroes, but when a Villain saves her life during a break-in at her lab, Kenna discovers there’s a whole lot of gray area when it comes …

Check it out, I’m on a roll with these Mayday Mondays! Let me know if there’s a YA book that you’re waiting to be released that I can feature! The Maze Runner meets Scott Westerfeld in this gripping new series about teens held captive in a human zoo by an otherworldly race. From Megan Shepherd, the acclaimed author of The Madman’s Daughter trilogy. When Cora Mason wakes in a desert, she doesn’t know where she is or who put her there. As she explores, she finds an impossible mix of environments—tundra next to desert, farm next to jungle, and a …
My Top Ten 80’s Video Picks
I was getting my hair done by my hair stylist, Jessica, the other day and we got to talking about perms and how she would never let me have one. I did have perms pretty much all through high school as that was the way to get big hair. Even now, I look at my hair sometimes and think if I add just little more hairspray I can once again achieve the proper height. My hair hasn’t been the proper height since 1991 in my opinion. 😉 Anyway we were having a good time talking about the 80’s and …

When Ana Watson’s brother ditches a high school trip to …
