Secret Project Revealed!
I know I’ve been teasing you guys with this for a while but I am finally able to make an announcement that I hope you will be as excited about as I am. You all know I’ve been working on an as yet untitled Egyptian themed book for my new publisher Random House and that it isn’t set to publish until the fall of 2015. That’s a long time for you all to wait for new material from me, so last fall I talked with my agent Alex (you can all send him gift baskets later) about the possibility of …
Ren & Kishan crochet {a semi-tutorial}
Long long ago, in the world known as Facebook, I posted this picture of Ren and Kishan…. That picture got so many comments and requests for more information. Here I am to answer all inqueries!! I drummed up this idea when I wanted something cute and little and, obviously, Ren and and Kishan. I’m pretty good at following patterns (and pretty terrible at coming up with my own) so after trying to make it work and failing completely at it, I searched around and found a pattern for sale on Etsy by One & Two Company. There is a …
Winner of Pack Your Bags contest!
Loved, loved, loved all the responses to where you’d go on vacation and who you would take! A few people commented that their answer would definitely be different if we were talking people and places found in books. Oh my word, so true! I would have an even harder time choosing because books really transport me but just thinking of real-life people don’t. I think we’ll have to delve into that sometime…. So up for grabs is a prize pack… I’ve got a scarf, a bracelet, and a set of adorable Ren and Kishan’s and a book of your choice. …
Movie Review: Pompeii
Movie Review: Pompeii Colleen’s Movie Review Romance: Oh boy. So here’s the development of the romance. Slave/Gladiator steps up to kill her maimed horse She likes horses He’s a sort of horse whisperer They’re in love Come on Hollywood. A girl needs just a little bit more reason than that. Still somehow even though she’s only seen the guy twice and heard him say maybe a total of 20 words she already knows he’s “everything the Roman senator is not.” I’m not really sure if either character actually had any chemistry with each other since I pretty much felt nothing …
Double Feature Movie Review: Vampire Academy & Winter’s Tale
Movie Review: Vampire Academy Colleen’s Movie Review Romance: Each of the girls had a romantic interest, so I’ll go with the blonde, Lissa, first. Her guy was Christian and he is very cute and swoonworthy with a good amount of fan girl potential. His romance scenes were a little too teenybopper for me with the exception of one really good kiss when she wasn’t expecting it. The brunette, Rose, had a love interest much too old for her named Dimitri. Despite this, their chemistry was good, near combustible even, and probably due to his age it felt much more mature …
Happy Valentine’s Day
Roses are red, violets are blue . . . we’ve all heard and most likely written one or two of these poems for a past valentine. Since most of you may be busy celebrating with your friends and loved ones today, I’d like to keep this post simple, sickly sweet, and utterly romantic! For those of you who love romance, I thought we could refresh our minds to that special night when Ren asked Kelsey out for their first Valentines date ever (from Tiger’s Quest). Leading up to this romantically unparalleled Valentines date, Ren and Kelsey were officially and …
The meaning and Beauty of the Veil
The lady shadowed in veil Consider the white veiling of the bride or the black veil in mourning, a nun who takes on the veil or a woman disguising her identity for secret purposes, or even that of a religious woman concealed in veils of various designs and colors. Throughout history, the veil has held reverent symbolism and status. It seems as though the tradition of veils stems from the ancient European cultures (Hittites, Greeks, Romans and Persians) and was associated with circumstance and position. The earliest recorded instance of women wearing veils is found in the 13th century BC. …
Movie Review: The Legend of Hercules
Movie Review: The Legend of Hercules Colleen’s Movie Review Romance: Okay. Kellan Lutz provided some good steam and I liked the characters together but there really weren’t enough romantic scenes to make me happy. Special Effects: Kind of a PG13 version of 300. Lots of cool frozen rain shots or giant leaps in the air with the camera swirling around. The Nemean lion was just not believable as either a lion or a monster. What I Liked: The lighting whip when Zeus struck the sword of Hercules. The scenery was beautiful. Kellan Lutz. Costumes. Oh and the girl’s golden hair clippies. …

Announcing winner of Sophie Jordan’s new Book!
In celebration of author and friend, Sophie Jordan, I held a contest last week asking for your feedback on what you’d do if you were told you had the kill gene. For those of you who missed this blog post, here’s a little preview of Sophie Jordan’s new young adult book entitled UNINVITED, “You can’t change your DNA…even when it says you’re a murderer. When Davy tests positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome, aka “the kill gene,” she loses everything.
